Ottawa has the goalie we want to watch. Buffalo has the price we do not want to chase. And Golden State’s opener comes with enough missing pieces to make a familiar matchup feel unfamiliar.

That is tonight’s card in a sentence. Two hockey games at 7:30, a late basketball game, and no need to turn a full evening of viewing into a full evening of bets.

Odds and team news checked October 21, 2026, at 12:01 p.m. EDT. Quotes are DraftKings prices carried by ESPN, not guaranteed offers or Ontario-specific prices. All start times are Eastern. Ottawa is a conditional lean while its goalie matchup remains unconfirmed.

Prices: ESPN’s NHL odds and NBA odds. This is a dated preview; prices can change.

Panthers–Senators: Ullmark gives Ottawa a case

A goalie cannot win a game alone, but he can make his team’s mistakes less expensive. That has been Linus Ullmark’s early contribution: a .945 save percentage and a 6–1–0 record through seven appearances, according to the NHL matchup statistics.

RotoWire projects Ullmark against Akira Schmid, with neither confirmed. Schmid is at .878 in four appearances. Those small samples are not permanent labels on either goalie. They do explain why Ottawa interests us at close to an even-money price.

There is useful news on Ottawa’s blue line: Sanderson returns; Chabot remains out. Florida is dealing with absences, too. RotoWire lists Aleksander Barkov on long-term injured reserve, with Brad Marchand and Jacob Markstrom on injured reserve.

Neither team is playing on consecutive nights. The Senators and Panthers schedules show both last played Saturday. This is a goalie-and-price argument, not a tired-visitor angle.

Our take: Ottawa moneyline at -108 is the conditional lean, with -115 the most we would pay, if Ullmark faces Schmid. Until that pairing is confirmed, it stays on the watchlist. A change in either net means passing on this version of the play.

The reason to keep some doubt is Florida’s offense. The Panthers have scored 30 goals through nine games, against Ottawa’s 24 through nine, per the NHL standings. Ullmark will not get to carry his early save percentage into tonight as a head start on the scoreboard.

Florida’s moneyline is -112. The puck lines are Ottawa +1.5 at -285 and Florida -1.5 at +230; the total is 5.5, over -120 and under +100. We prefer Ottawa’s outright-win angle to paying heavily for a goal and a half. A strong Florida shooting night, or ordinary regression from Ullmark’s excellent start, can beat it. At -108, the cash moneyline needs about 51.9% wins to break even; the early numbers do not prove that hurdle is cleared.

Flyers–Sabres: a struggling visitor is not a blank check

Philadelphia is 2–6–3 with 17 goals in 11 games. It is easy to stop reading there and back Buffalo. The problem is what comes next: the Sabres have allowed 34 goals in nine games, according to the same NHL standings.

RotoWire lists Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as confirmed for Buffalo and Dan Vladar as expected for Philadelphia. The NHL goalie statistics have Luukkonen at .860 in seven appearances and Vladar at .889 in five. Buffalo may be the favorite for sensible reasons, but its crease has not looked like a place to buy certainty.

Philadelphia also has missing offense: RotoWire lists Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett on injured reserve, with Tyson Foerster day-to-day. That makes the Flyers harder to trust, without making Buffalo’s asking price automatically reasonable.

There is no back-to-back here. Philadelphia played Monday; Buffalo last played Saturday. The Sabres get more rest, but -192 asks for a lot: about 65.8% wins just to break even.

Our take: pass at -192. We would only revisit Buffalo at -165 or better with Luukkonen facing Vladar. That is a buying limit, not a forecast of a price move or a measured fair line. We are waiting on Philadelphia’s goalie, too.

Buffalo -1.5 pays +136, but a one-goal home win loses that bet. Philadelphia +1.5 costs -162. The total is 5.5, over -135 and under +114. We are leaving those alone rather than switching markets to escape a moneyline we dislike. A low-scoring Philadelphia team can still exploit a rough goalie night, and a 3–2 game would punish anyone treating the puck line as a cheaper version of the favorite.

Warriors–Lakers: the points come with missing players

Golden State +6.5 looks tempting if you picture the Warriors at full strength. That is not the lineup described in the NBA’s 11:45 a.m. injury report: Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski are out, Kristaps Porzingis is not with the team, and Stephen Curry is probable with right ankle soreness.

Probable is encouraging, but it is not a promise about Curry’s minutes or how comfortably he will move. The Lakers have a question of their own, with Collin Sexton questionable. Walker Kessler is available.

Our take: watch, no pregame bet on Lakers -6.5 at -112 or Warriors +6.5 at -108. Missing Warriors players help explain the spread; they do not tell us how much cushion is enough. Curry can make a difficult offensive night look very different in a few possessions. Equally, a short-handed rotation can run out of answers late.

The moneylines are Lakers -230 and Warriors +190. The 234.5 total is over -115 and under -105. We are not using the total as a workaround for an uncertain view of the side. Tonight’s first useful result may be learning how Golden State handles these absences.

One conditional look is plenty

Ottawa gets the first look if the expected goalies start and the price stays inside our limit. Buffalo needs to get cheaper. Warriors–Lakers stays a viewing appointment. No unconditional bets at publication, and no reason to bundle the games into a parlay.

The hockey quotes here are full-game markets. Under DraftKings’ hockey rules, they include overtime unless the market excludes it; a shootout adds one goal to the winning team for score-market settlement. A regulation-only or 60-minute bet is a different market. The terms for the market and location govern.
