Tonight pairs a compact NHL slate with four MLB playoff games. Our first job is to separate a good matchup from a good price. Colorado can look strong without being worth any price, and the Yankees can need a win without becoming a bargain.
Our morning position is watch and wait. The review prices below are editorial limits, not calculated fair odds. No goalie pairing is confirmed by this article, and meeting a price limit only earns another look.

None of these six NHL teams appears on Tuesday's official slate, so none is on the second night of a back-to-back. That does not settle travel, workload, or goalie selection.

| Penguins–Capitals | +135 / −160 | 6.5: Over −115 / Under −105 |

Quote sources: BetMGM's Avalanche, Capitals, Oilers, and Yankees pages. Prices vary by location and can move. Older stories elsewhere on those pages are not today's lines.
Colorado–Winnipeg: like the attack, respect the price
Colorado beat St. Louis 6–1 Saturday. Blackwood stopped 25 of 26 shots. Source: Colorado's official preview. That is a strong recent result, not a large enough sample to declare a new season settled.
Our side to review: Colorado moneyline at −175 or better, after both goalies and the active lineup are confirmed. The quoted −190 is a pass. At −190, the break-even rate is about 65.5%; at −175 it is 63.6%. We have not established Colorado's true win probability above either threshold.
The official game data lists Blackwood and Wedgewood on Colorado's goalie comparison, and Skinner and Stevenson for Winnipeg. Those are roster/stat entries, not start confirmations. The October 5 lineup report listed Hellebuyck suspended; check for a newer update rather than pricing Winnipeg from an old roster assumption.
BetMGM also quotes Colorado −1.5 at +125 and Winnipeg +1.5 at −150. A cheaper-looking payout on Colorado's puck line buys a harder task: a win by two or more. We are not substituting that bet just to avoid the expensive moneyline.
How the Colorado idea could lose: the opposing goalie plays well, penalties interrupt the attack, or a close game swings late. An early-season scoring burst does not cancel those risks.
The other NHL games: wait on starters and roles
Penguins–Capitals: totals watchlist, no bet yet. The NHL's current game data shows Pittsburgh's team goalie save percentage at roughly .899 through three games, Washington's at roughly .921 through two. These tiny samples can change quickly. They are not a reliable forecast of tonight's total.
We have not verified tonight's starting goalie pairing or a complete updated injury report. Until those checks are complete, the over at −115 and under at −105 are observations, not recommendations. A strong goalie performance could ruin an over; power plays and late empty-net goals could ruin an under.
Oilers–Ducks: review over 6.5 only at −115 or better, after starter and lineup checks. The quoted −135 is a pass. The official comparison shows Edmonton's goalie group at .785 through three games and Anaheim's at .918 through two. That makes goalie news worth watching, but it is far too early to treat either rate as a season-long truth.
At −135, an over needs about 57.4% wins to break even; at −115 the threshold is 53.5%. A goalie improvement, missed chances, or fewer penalties could keep the score low. If the line rises to 7, this 6.5 watchlist no longer applies. We have not verified player-prop prices, so there are no invented shots or goalscorer picks.
Rays–Yankees: the must-win tax is real enough to question
The official probable-pitcher feed lists Nick Martinez against Max Fried. Judge is off the ALDS roster. New York scored two runs in 18 innings. Martinez had a 2.38 road ERA. Source for roster and performance facts: MLB's Game 3 preview.
Our market to review: under 7 at even money or better, after final batting orders, pitching plans, and weather checks. The quoted +105 meets the price screen, but the information screen remains open. That makes it a conditional watchlist, not a bet we have declared ready.
ERA measures earned runs allowed per nine innings. A road ERA is context, not a guarantee against this lineup. New York's recent scoring struggles are also a short sample. The Yankees can improve without proving that today's −160 moneyline was good value.
At +105, the break-even rate among decided bets is about 48.8%. Exactly seven runs is normally a push for a standard total of 7; confirm your book's rules. A total of 6.5 is a different bet, so do not carry this price limit over to it.
How an under could lose: early walks and a homer, a short starter outing, defensive mistakes, or extra innings. We are not relying on “they have to win” as evidence for a side. The other MLB games stay off this price-based shortlist because we have not completed equivalent odds and availability checks for them.
Check what overtime means on your slip
Our hockey references mean full-game markets including overtime and shootout, not regulation-only three-way winners. As an official example, MGM Springfield's hockey rules include overtime unless marked Regular Time, add one goal for a shootout winner, and exclude shootouts from player props unless specified. These are that venue's rules; verify your sportsbook and jurisdiction's exact terms.
Build the card after the checks
- Colorado moneyline: review at −175 or better; morning −190 is a pass.
- Oilers–Ducks over 6.5: review at −115 or better; morning −135 is a pass.
- Rays–Yankees under 7: price qualifies at +105, but lineup, pitching, and weather checks remain.
- Penguins–Capitals: goalie and availability watchlist, without a published pick.
These limits are editorial filters, not model-derived edges. Do not parlay them just because the games overlap. Use a session budget and count every stake; our new betting-card guide shows how.
