A double-double bet asks whether one basketball player will reach at least 10 in two qualifying statistical categories in the same game. Scoring 20 points does not do it by itself. That is still one category.
The useful question is not “How big is the player’s total?” It is “How many separate categories have reached 10?” That small change makes the ticket much easier to follow.
Five categories. Two separate targets.
The NBA’s explanation of double-doubles identifies five qualifying categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. A player needs double figures in two of them. Three qualifying categories make a triple-double.
Those categories do not have to be points and rebounds. Ten rebounds and ten assists qualify even if the player scores fewer than ten points. Turnovers, minutes and made three-pointers are not additional categories in that definition.
Here are four invented completed-game lines. For simplicity, every player in this table has zero steals and zero blocks:
| Points / rebounds / assists | Categories at 10+ | Double-double? |
|---|---|---|
| 20 / 9 / 4 | 1 | No |
| 10 / 10 / 3 | 2 | Yes |
| 8 / 11 / 10 | 2 | Yes |
| 12 / 10 / 10 | 3 | Yes; also a triple-double |
Does a triple-double count for the double-double bet?
For a market defined as two or more categories, yes. Fanatics Sportsbook’s Connecticut rules explicitly use that wording for a double-double and three or more for a triple-double.
The final row above clears three targets, so it satisfies both definitions. That does not mean one double-double ticket pays twice. It means that ticket has met its condition; a separate triple-double bet is a separate selection with its own price.
A named combination such as “10+ points and 10+ rebounds” is narrower. Our invented 8-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist player has a double-double but misses that particular points-and-rebounds combination. Read the actual selection rather than swapping it for the headline achievement.
Follow the category that is still short
Picture an invented live line with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Points have crossed ten. The other categories have not.
Hypothetical live snapshot · not a prediction
18 points is enough for one category.
- Points
- 18
- Rebounds
- 9
- Assists
- 7
One more credited rebound would reach a second category. Three more credited assists would also reach a second category. More points alone would not.
That gives you something specific to watch. It does not tell you the chance of getting there. A player stuck on nine rebounds still needs another credited rebound, however impressive the scoring looks.
Our rebound guide explains the counting side, while our assist-research guide separates a passing opportunity from a credited assist.
Overtime and participation belong to the ticket
FanDuel Ontario’s basketball player-performance rules include overtime in totals. They also say bets stand once the player takes the court, regardless of time played, and are void if the player does not participate.
Under those full-game, overtime-inclusive terms, an invented player who finishes regulation with 18 points and 9 rebounds could reach the second category with a credited overtime rebound. A regulation-only selection would have a different cutoff.
Do not treat “did not play” and “left early” as the same situation. Fanatics Connecticut’s rules have a discretionary provision for certain early injury exits in specified NBA/WNBA competitions. It is not an automatic refund promise. The applicable operator, jurisdiction and market terms matter.
Use the credited line, then the accepted price
Fanatics Connecticut settles its double-double markets from the official game book or organizing body’s statistics. Follow the credited categories rather than counting what looked like a rebound or assist on television.
For a hypothetical $10 cash single accepted at +150, a winning result returns $25: $15 profit plus the $10 stake. A triple-double satisfying that same double-double selection does not increase the accepted payout.
BetSlip Live helps you import and follow supported betslips. Review the detected player and market against the accepted receipt, and keep a double-double selection distinct from a single-stat or combined-total prop. Our settlement-rules guide helps you find the terms that go with the ticket.
